The Travis County Republican Party saw a way to raise money for the Party by having the Congressional Candidates pay a $2500 fee plus $25 per ticket for their supporters to attend a "straw poll". Our campaign understood that this was a fund raiser and bought about twenty tickets, but did not hand them out. We saw no point in it. There were about 250 people in attendance, most came from the various campaigns. The Bill Burch Campaign brought six staff members. The Travis County Party took around $20,000 from the campaigns.
